Shifting baselines on ocean acidification
For many, many years the ocean has been able to keep the level of acidity normal. However, since the beginning of the industrial revolution in the early 1800s, fossil fuel-powered machines have driven an unknown burst of human industry and advancement. Massive amounts of CO2 into the ocean is altering every type of life or living organism. Ocean acidification has changed the ocean extremely without the newer generations knowing how the ocean looked like before because they have adapted to the way it is today and how they see it.
